Department of Architecture Students Wins Third Prize
8 November 2019This year, “Building for Humanity – Architecture for People International Architectural Design Competition” is organized with a theme on the integration of Syrian refugees in Turkey to the society. Çağan Köksal, Barış Açık, Burak Arifoğlu, Begüm Yoldaş, and Akın Ertürk, students from Department of Architecture of the Faculty of Art and Design, won the third prize with their project ‘Borderless’.
Divided into two categories as for professionals and students, the competition looked for design ideas that will help the social integration of Syrian refugees living in the Reyhanlı district located in the borderline of Turkey. The jury members included Prof. Juhani Pallasmaa, Prof. Dr. Suha Özkan, Yaşar University Faculty of Architecture Dean Prof. Dr. Meltem Gürel, Teaching Fellow Dr. Chen-Yu Chiu, Assoc. Dr. Chun-Hsiung Wang, Ying-Chun Hsieh, Sheng-Yuan Huang, Shuenn-Ren Liou, and Nuno Martins.
